Dear Reader,

Although fiber transport has helped to resolve a number of copper facility issues, fiber infrastructure faces its own challenges; poor fiber splices, dirty connections, crushed cables, sharp bends, and so forth are not uncommon.

The "forgiving" nature of Ethernet (errored packets are often simply retransmitted) can hide corruption introduced by degraded facilities and reduce network performance.  Worse, these "masked errors" can be difficult to find.

Pulsecom has the solution - and it doesn't require a network-wide switch upgrade, new software or more than a few minutes to put in service.

GigE Service Assurance

Native Gigabit Ethernet with
Synchronous Diagnostics

Pulsecom's G2HC is a miniature, stand-alone, dual, full-rate GigE multiplexer with:
  • Absolute Minimum Latency
  • Jumbo Frame Support
  • Fully Independent Channels
  • Climate Hardened
  • Full Synchronous Bit Error Diagnositcs

Just as important, the standard mechanics form factor of the G2HC allows it to be installed in many NCTE and Smart Jack housings eliminating the costs of new cabinets and shelves, and delivers up to 26 independent GigEs over one fiber pair.

Video Jitter Management

Video is often carried over GigE circuits because it's cost effective, simple and widely available.  But despite the benefits, GigE transport may add to jitter that can corrupt HD video performance.

Pulsecom's G2HC can actually help remove jitter to preserve pristine video content.  Clock recovery circuits in the G2HC Ethernet ports can accommodate moderate amounts of incoming jitter while G2HC Ethernet outputs are precisely synchronized to compensate for variations.

In other words, a G2HC transmission link can help "clean up" jitter that has occurred elsewhere in the network.
