Dear Reader,
 Piggy bank
Don't break the bank in order to optically extend DS1 services!

The realities of the current economy are forcing everyone to re-think deployment strategies.  Not only does the equipment need to be low cost, but installation and maintenance need to be low cost as well.

Pulsecom has become synonymous with cost efficient access products for small and mid sized applications.

Why?  Because Pulsecom DS1 extension products:

Extend services directly from SONET muxes or in a "book-ended" configuration

Operate indoors or in OSP cabinets

Use existing NMS, Network Management Systems

Incorporate "Smart Jack" functionality

Incorporate Lightning protection

Use standard mechanics, Smart Jack mountings

Require NO software

Operate on 24Vdc, 48Vdc, AC or Span Power

Utilize patented Optionless SONET for fast, easy turn-up

Minimize First Costs

Utilize Existing Housings, Power and Management

The O3-12D1D is Pulsecom's self contained module used to extend up to 12 DS1s over a standard SONET OC3.  With this self contained module, there is no software, no common cards and no proprietary shelf.  Provisioning is accomplished with Pulsecom's Patented Optionless SONET.

Standard SONET interfaces allow the OC3 fiber to be terminated directly on a SONET mux, eliminating the need for any additional CO equipment.

The standard mechanics form factor of the O3-12D1D allows it to be installed in many NCTE and Smart Jack housings.  Since they include integrated lightning protection, T1 Smart Jacks are no longer needed.  The modules respond to the standard T1 loopback codes, as well as SONET TL-1 messages, so standard testing can still be used.  And since they are environmentally hardened, the same module may be installed in the CO, OSP cabinet or customer premise.

Concerned about energy?  The O3-12D1D uses up to 85% less power than HDSL and may be powered by 24Vdc, 48Vdc, 120VAC or span power.

Utilize Existing SONET muxes

The OBBF/OBBFR products breathe new life into existing DDM-2000 SONET multiplexers.  The OBBF is installed in a low speed line card slot of the DDM-2000 and optically extends four DS1s to the OBBFR.  The OBBF/OBBFR combination operates (and is provisioned) just like a standard BBF3 quad line card.

Minimize Management Costs

Remote DS1 Management through SONET Data Communications Channel

The O3-12D1D module provides 1-12 DS1 extensions over a standard SONET OC3 transport.  Not only does the O3-12D1D operate like an extension from a SONET mux, it can be managed in the same way.  The SONET Data Communication Channel, DCC, allows communication from a centralized Network Operations Center or CO through your existing SONET muxes to the O3-12D1D with TL-1 support.  Provisioning, maintenance, alarm reporting and operational statistics are available from almost any point in your network.

O3-12D1D application

When using a DDM-2000, Pulsecom's OBBF line card is installed into one of the low speed line card slots and is managed just like a BBF3 type quad DS1 cards.
